Just call him PEDelman I guess.
Tom Brady’s favorite target is not only coming back from an ACL tear but will now, most likely, miss the first four games of the 2018 season.
If your expectations for Julian Edelman weren’t tempered already, you should temper them now. In my opinion he was already going to high in early drafts, at the low end of the top 100, and I would expect that to slide. There are just so many mouths to feed in New England on top of his issues that it’s also not worth chasing a Chris Hogan or a Jordan Matthews as a replacement unless they were already your target.
If your target was Edelman, there are some intriguing names in that same range right now that should provide you with a full years worth of games and more upside with less risk.
For wide receivers, Corey Davis, Emmanuel Sanders, Marquis Goodwin, Pierre Garcon, and Randall Cobb are all being taken in that range. You could also pivot based on how your draft unfolds and go after a running back. RB’s in that range include Marlon Mack, Nick Chubb, Royce Freeman, Rex Burkhead, and Isaiah Crowell. One other intriguing name down there is Jordan Reed. While he’s a more risky take, he’s unquestionably elite at his position when healthy and Alex Smith loves his tight end. That’s what she said.
